Should I invest in Bear Stearns after all the dust settles?

When everthing is said and done; wont Bear Stearns be a Bargain for long-Term investment?

Well, ask yourself if Bear Stearns is guily of doing anything wrong. Simply put, the wrong doers for this financial mess will be punished and pummeled, even if it is merely for the sake of P.R. with the small investor. Where is ENRON today?

My guess is that they are permanently out of the investment loop.

Look for the innocents that have been wrongly sold off in extreme. For example, Nokia is a 10 P/E and at least has an industry that is not going to suffer new regulations of home loans and mortgage sales. Of course, it may go to 6 P/E before this is over, but I suspect they are planning to overcome the Apple iPhones appeal with something new and better. The company is over a century old and of conservative Scandanavian philosophy.

In truth, you should be waiting for the market to bottom out as a whole before you start picking specific positions. The junk just keeps getting cheaper until it disappears.
